What Is A Landing Page?

A landing page is a web page that is used specifically to focus on a single value proposition (or offer) for; 1. generating a sale of a specific product or service, and/or 2. capturing information for future marketing efforts.

Why are landing pages important?

As a resource for focusing your marketing efforts, landing pages are necessary for all marketers wanting to promote a single product or generate leads using the Internet. If you are planning on offering a product such as an ebook, audio CD, DVD or a service such as a training seminar or monthly newsletter, you will want to develop a landing page system.

A landing page is sometimes referred to as an offer page, sales page, or squeeze page. This can become confusing for people who are new to landing pages. An offer page is a generic term that is interchangeable with landing page. They both refer to a page that is focused on a single offer or value proposition regardless of whether you are selling a product or service or using the page to generate leads. A sales page is a page that if focused on selling a product or service whereas a squeeze page’s sole purpose is to capture key demographic information from the prospect with an opt-in form. Squeeze pages usually provide the prospect with something free in exchange for personal information for future marketing efforts. A free report, ebook, or white paper are the most common offers for generating leads.

A large number of people are using Google AdWords to promote their product or service through search marketing (i.e.; advertisements listed next to search results). These ads typically send people directly to the homepage of their website. Then, the marketer is confused that they are not producing enough results.

Homepages are, and should be, focused on presenting the entire corporate image. This will mean that the homepage will send people to many different places within the larger corporate site. The larger the company, the more places you can go.

What about Blogging?

A lot of authors, consultants, and other Internet entrepreneurs are buzzing with blogging. But what is blogging? Generating text-based communication with the hope that someone chooses to read it. Many people consider blogging as the only marketing approach and their motto seems to be “Blog and they will come.” This approach is about as effective as creating a website and hoping people will find it on the Internet consisting of billions of web pages. As a longterm strategy, blogging can be an effective element in your marketing mix, possibly to promote yourself as an expert and gain a following. But when used as an approach to market a product or service, it will be ineffective at generating results.

If you’re an avid blogger, I would recommend using a landing page system and instead of blog entries, start writing articles and use a distribution service to generate traffic to your landing page. See Section 5 for more information on using article distribution to market your landing page.

I Sell Through Amazon.com, I Don’t Need A Landing Page

This is a typical response I receive when discussing the importance of the landing page to marketers who have created a product they are selling through popular ecommerce websites. Marketer’s feel that if they eliminate the middleman and send people directly to Amazon.com (usually from their blog), they don’t need to create a landing page. With respect to book marketing, having a landing page that has one purpose—providing potential buyers with access to your book summary, testimonials, table of contents, bio, a nice picture of the author, and possibly a free chapter—can only help you sell more books. This doesn’t mean creating an entire website for your book. This is one page that provides all of the necessary information to someone who is interested in purchasing your product.

Next Generation Marketing Strategy

In summary, the landing page is a necessary element in the next-generation marketing strategy. Rather than previous approaches that directed prospects to the homepage of larger website, the landing page system is replacing outdated and ineffective methods of marketing products and services.

Summary

Landing pages are websites or web pages that are used specifically to focus on a single value proposition (or offer) for; 1. generating a sale of a specific product or service, and/or 2. capturing information for future marketing efforts.

More on the UnTrafficked Domain Names

So anyone who is keeping track, the few who regularly visit this secret work blog, might have noticed that almost all of the untrafficked domain names that were parked and seeing no traffic now have websites and a very few backlinks.

Sadly my workload has interfered with the experiment but I am seeing an increased amount of visitors across the board and now have a system setup where it takes only a day to do keyword research, build a website and start promotion all within a regular work day.

And once I get the promotion angle fine tuned I may be able to see a profit off of each domain name within a single day instead of months.

That would be awesome.

Anyway one of the domains I'm not too happy with is a 4 letter domain that I tried to convert into an informational website. The pages are great but some of the keywords and the site navigation just seem to suck.

Hey I built it I can say whatever I want.

Plus I'm having coding errors with no time to work on them (Because of my work with some of the untrafficked domain names I got thrown a Western Cowboy Hat website).

So anyway just venting while I wait for someone to come over and I've already checked my email.

5 Reasons Why Article Submitting Software is a Worthwhile Investment

It's tedious, right? Finding your bookmark or typing in the URL for any of the hundreds of article directories out there. Then you have to navigate through to find the proper submit article or author login link. Then trying to remember your username and password. Then copying and pasting the title, then the summary, then the article content, then your resource box information. Woo. After 20 minutes, you finally hit submit and have to start all over.

If only there was a better way.

Well, there is, of course. There's a couple of better ways.

First, you could hire a company to submit artcicles for you. For example, one company will submit your article to 357 article directories for only $14 per article. You buy credits via Paypal or Credit Card, and they can submit the articles under your own account (you have to provide the usernames and passwords) or their account.

It's a good option. Especially if you are short on time. To submit articles manually to article directories takes a ton of time. Fourteen dollars for 357 directories is a steal.

But there are some drawbacks.

One drawback, you lose some control over the category selection. If the subject of your article is something like, article submitting software, and your submission is put under the category, business, well, that's just not good enough. You want it placed under something more in line with Search Engine Optimization or Link Building, or at the very least, Internet, right?

Another drawback is you lose your ability to edit the article later; or see stats for the article if you choose to use the article directory's username and password.

If your plan is to become an aggressive affiliate marketer, you will be writing and submitting tons of articles to market your website. You are in it for the long haul, right? If you crank out 5-10 articles a week, paying someone to submit articles for you could become REALLY expensive.

In this case, article submission software is not just a luxury, it is a must have. Here are five points to consider...

TIME SAVINGS

Since content is king, your time is best served creating content for your sites. Any extra time you can save is time you can be using on some other way to promote your business. Article submission software will save you hours of tedious manual submitting. No more copy paste, copy paste. You copy paste ONE time, and you are off and running.

OVER 1400 DIRECTORIES

It would take you almost two days working non-stop to submit to this many directories manually. The best article submission software cuts this down to just a few hours. You can pick every directory in the list, just a few, or add your own depending on what kind of time you have. Google Pagerank for each directory is listed, so if you want to submit to only PR6 directories, you have that option.

USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS SAVED

If you don't always use the same username and password, remembering these for different article directories can be a nightmare. Most article submission software stores this information for you so you don't have to remember.

CATEGORY SELECTION

Some of the cheaper article submitters ask for you to give you a preferred category up front. Then when you submit, you're not ever sure what category your article is submitted under. This is bad. The best article submission programs allow you to hand pick each category. No more articles in random categories.

PRECIOUS ONE WAY LINKS

What every affiliate marketer needs to be shined down upon by the search engine gods is credible one way links. There is no better way to get these links than article marketing. The more articles you can crank out and send to article directories means:

* the better your standings in the search engines
* the more traffic you receive
* and the more PROFITS you make.

So, what are you waiting for? Time is money.

Investing in SEO Tools

Search engine optimization has become an increasingly popular form of advertising, especially if you are just beginning to start your online business or want to launch your career in Internet marketing. However, if you’re not experienced with the basics of SEO, then you could face a few challenges to your success, such as identifying the correct keywords for high rankings or acquiring solid inbound links to your site.

However, you don’t have to be overly concerned about these challenges. They can be overcome simply by using some easily obtained SEO tools.

What are SEO Tools?

SEO tools can take many forms. Most are software programs that you can download from the Internet for a low price. The tools are designed to help you with varying aspects of your SEO efforts. For example, some SEO tools can help you identify sites that are eager to do link exchanges with similar sites. That way you can increase the number of your inbound and outbound links thus boosting your search engine rankings.

You’ll also find SEO tools that will help you do keyword research, identify keywords that are being used by your competition, and that will help you improve the keyword placement in your content.

Should I Use SEO Tools?

One of the most common questions asked by people who are new to search engine optimization efforts is whether or not they should even use SEO tools. That’s a good question but it’s difficult to answer and depends mostly on your level of experience with optimization and search engines, in general.

However, most people who do use SEO tools do find great success with them. They can provide you with easy access to information that might be available elsewhere but which would take more time and effort to compile. The information can also be more comprehensive and thorough which also enhances your rankings.

Another advantage is that most SEO tools do have trial periods in which you can use them for free and decide whether or not you benefit from them. If you don’t, then you haven’t lost anything. If you do, then you can complete the transaction and move on to continued success.

Are SEO Tools Better Than SEO Professionals

Some people do hire SEO professionals to handle all of their search engine optimization efforts. This professional is paid to identify your keywords, to direct their placement in the content, and to make sure that your site scores relatively high in the rankings.

While that may all sound phenomenal, it doesn’t come cheap. The majority of us who have started out on the Internet don’t begin with the money necessary to hire one of these professionals, regardless of how helpful they might be. As you’re beginning your efforts, you should probably focus on doing the SEO work yourself or investing in much less expensive SEO tools. You may not generate the same level of results as you would from a professional but you will definitely improve your rankings.

Now that you know more about SEO Tools, take a look at http://www.goodinternetmoney.com/SEOElite for a little more clarity on this subject.

7 Ways to Recession-Proof Your Online Content

With the downturn in the economy encompassing nearly every aspect of our lives, businesses large and small are feeling the pinch. MarketingSherpa recently published a survey stating that over 60% of large companies are planning on slashing their marketing budgets significantly this year.

With smaller marketing budgets, companies are hunting for cost-effective, measurable solutions to sagging sales figures. This naturally leads to online marketing in order to generate new prospects and customers. The goal is to recession-proof your online content and marketing.

"It all starts with a powerful, search engine-friendly website that converts," says Jon Wuebben, author of "Content Rich: Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web" (Encore Publishing). "Companies today need to focus on the words they use to communicate with their prospects and how they leverage this content to maximize their online exposure. When more companies are chasing fewer prospects, you need to ensure your online copy is strong and that you’re using the viral nature of the web to promote it.”

Wuebben says if you want to harness the power of cost-effective online marketing, there are 7 steps to follow:

1. Embrace the Basics: Web Content 101. Start with the easy stuff. Take a look at your existing copy. How is your site performing? If you haven’t done it yet, perform some keyword research and use Google Analytics – how are visitors making their way through the site?

2. Expand the Breadth of Your Content. A few years ago, a website was all you needed. But the web has continued to evolve. Are you writing optimized press releases? How about a newsletter? Do you have a blog? Consider these other ways of recession-proofing your online content and marketing.

3. Create New Content Directed at Your Existing Customer Base. Building your relationship with current customers is huge. Consider newsletters or email marketing. This is money in the bank during a recession. Develop new content and then get it to those who are most likely to respond.

4. Put Together a Content Distribution Strategy. What channels are you using for your online copy? All linking happens because of great content that everyone wants to be a part of. Get your optimized content out there. Use search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. Start blogging. If you have a great product, consider an affiliate network.

5. Leverage Your Content. Once you write a blog post, a press release, a web page, an article or a white paper, you can use it in other ways. Of course, you don’t want to use it verbatim – change it up so you don’t have duplicate content. Ideas need to be communicated in different ways. Don’t re-write it every time – leverage it. It’s a great way to recession-proof your online content and marketing.

6. Optimize Your Online Content for Social Media. What types of content are hot on sites like Digg, Stumble Upon and Facebook? Submit this exact content so you can get in the game and maximize response.

7. Make Your Content “Conversion-Friendly” - Ask for the Sale. Make sure that the copy includes specific "calls-to-action" which compel your visitors to the next step in the sale. Are the words "Order Now" next to your product? How about “get your free newsletter" now? Add these calls-to-action so visitors will take a more active and involved approach.

If you have a site that converts visitors into buyers and continually improve the conversion rate, you decrease your cost per acquisition and spend less on advertising. In Wuebben's book "Content Rich: Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web" he also emphasizes a good balance between design and copy and improving usability to impact website conversion. "The combination of winning copy, strategic SEO and off-page factors will put your website on the right track to make your business a success – no matter what the economy is doing."

Best ways to publish RSS

As RSS news syndication gains popularity among users, new ways for publishing RSS are emerging. In this article, I examine the three most popular methods, and help you decide which one works best for you.

1. Blogs
Weblogs, or blogs, as they are commonly called, are the primary reason RSS gained popularity. In fact, one of the earliest uses for RSS was for bloggers to monitor other blogs for updates.

Most blogging systems will produce RSS newsfeeds automatically. All you need to do is enter content, and the blogging software will build a newsfeed based on the information you enter. No extra work is needed. Just add content to your blog, and you have a newsfeed.

But there is one major disadvantage to using a blog for publishing RSS: you do not have complete control of the RSS output. Most blogging software will simply take an excerpt of your blog entry (e.g. the first 15 words), and use that to create your RSS item. As you can imagine, this can lead to problems. The first 15 words of a blog entry do not always capture the essence of that article.

2. RSS Publishing Software
Because of the inadequacy of blogs as a reliable and accurate RSS tool, new stand-alone software was developed. This software has one purpose: to provide the user with an easy way to create and publish RSS newsfeeds from their desktops. No longer do you have to write a long article in your blog to produce RSS feeds. All you have to do is enter a title for your news item, and (optionally) a couple sentences to describe that headline – and your feed is better than the blog-produced feed.

Examples of RSS publishing software for Windows include FeedforAll (http://www.feedforall.com) and Newzalert Composer (http://www.castlesoftware.biz/NewzAlertComposer.htm). Mac users have their own tool in Orangebox for Macintosh (http://www.globalsyndication.com/orangebox-for-macintosh).

3. Online RSS Publishing Systems
While subscribers to feeds generated by RSS software enjoyed the simplicity and clarity of the new feeds, some publishers began to run into problems that came with the publishing software. They missed the convenience of blogging’s online publishing that allowed them to add news -- regardless of whether they were at their home computer.

News publishers wanted the accessibility of online blogging with the accuracy of RSS publishing software. The new demand lead to the emergence of online RSS publishing systems such as FeedServer RSS Hosting (http://www.globalsyndication.com/rss-hosting). This new format of RSS publishing allows webmasters to login to an online control panel and publish their news – without having to worry about restrictive software licenses. Since most online RSS publishing systems run on a subscription basis, you can make use of the free trial or subscribe for one month and evaluate if the service meets your needs.

So which system should you use to publish RSS? It depends on your needs. If most of your readers manually visit your site to get new information, a blogging system may be sufficient. However, if you plan to take advantage of the full capabilities of RSS news syndication, you would do well to use a stand-alone RSS publishing system. RSS publishing software will satisfy your needs if you plan to use one computer only. But if you’re looking for flexibility and a lower startup costs, look into the new online RSS publishing systems.

Is Domain Parking Worth the Trouble?

If you’re thinking about getting into the domain parking industry then I’ll let you in on a little secret: The odds are stacked against you. This business has been dominated by a few big players for a while. If you’re starting from scratch, then you have as much chance to succeed in this game as a Tibetan monk with violent garlic allergies has at establishing himself as a dominant player in the Italian Mafia.

The domain parking industry is fundamentally flawed because it is passive. Any business plan that involves a lot of sitting around must eventually fail. It’s similar to any get-rich-quick scam that uses the phrase, “Just sit back and watch the money roll in!” I’ve heard countless eCommerce, Adsense and affiliate schemes that make this claim. They will tell you to have faith in their system, they will warn against doubters who want to steal your get-rich-quick dreams away from you. But I tell you: Don’t buy into anything that says, “Pay me $99.95 and I’ll tell you the secret to making money without having to work.”

Obviously some people make a living in the domain parking industry. I will tell you how they do it. First of all they have tons of awesome domains such as gardens.com or love.com. They do not depend on domains such as “ilikegardensalot.com” or “ireallylikelovealot.com.” Any domain with two or more words will probably never make back the money you spent to register it.

Be wary of buying domains that seem clever right now because they probably suck. You will discover this after it’s too late to cancel your domain choices and get a refund. It doesn’t even matter if you and all your friends think your domain names are clever. What matters is what the general masses think is clever.

Keep in mind that you need people to type your domain names manually. Search engines won’t help you because they hesitate to even acknowledge your parked pages. So you have to ask yourself honestly, “What are the chances of someone typing in ireallyreallylikegardensalot.com?” In order for your domain, ireallyreallylikegardensalot.com to pay for itself an average of one hundred separate people will have to type that entire domain every day.

You might try buying thousands of dollars worth of domains in hopes that they make more than what it cost to register them in the first place. If you purchased a domain from scratch that made $5 dollars more than what it cost you to register it per year, that would be a miracle. So what if you could find 10,000 similarly miraculous domains? Then you would have an administrative nightmare on your hands.

Another option is to purchase domains that are already popular. Suppose you bought a kick-ass domain for $20000. Suppose this domain was so awesome that it made you $1000 dollars per year on cash parking. How long will it take for this domain to pay for itself at that rate? 20 years.

Try to maintain a shrewd, business mindset. What’s the payoff here? What’s the timeframe before this investment starts to make a return above its original cost? Will the internet still exist by then?

There are a few domain parking companies that will do you right, such as NameDrive.com, Sedo.com or Godaddy.com. I am currently with Godaddy.com, making an average of 15 cents per click, which is unbeatable as far as I’ve seen. At this rate, I only need 10,000 clicks to break even. I’ve spent weeks’ worth of income and months’ worth of brainstorming energy to come this conclusion about domain parking: It’s not worth it.

3 Reasons To Buy An Existing Domain Name

When the time comes to set up your own internet business one of your first thoughts is to buy a domain name to establish a web site for your new business. You may spend a lot of time dreaming up possible names and testing their availability but there is another option you should consider -- buying an existing domain name.

Obviously you do not want to buy an existing web site for your new business as you wish to create a web site that accurately reflects your business vision, but there are a number of advantages to buying an existing domain name and if you do not yet have your heart set on a new domain name you will likely find an existing domain name available at a price not much greater than you will pay for a fresh name and an existing domain name brings a number of advantages.

One of the primary advantages of an existing domain name is that it already has traffic flowing toward it. Obviously the amount of traffic will vary greatly depending on what the current owner has done for promotion but any traffic is more than the zero visitors a fresh name will deliver.

Another advantage is from search engine optimization. Many domainers will have at least put in a small amount of time optimizing their domain name portfolio for search engines. Others put in a great deal of time and effort targeting key words and making sure the domain name is listed. It takes time for various domain names to work their way into search engine listings and if someone has already done that work for you then you are ready to capitalize on their groundwork as soon as you take over the name.

A third advantage is that the wild frontier of short, targeted, key word domain names is over. It is not impossible but very difficult to find an unregistered domain name in a short, catchy phrase and even more so if you have a specific key word in mind. However, many of the domainers who registered these domain names did so as an investment rather than a long-term project of their own and so are willing to sell. The only way to acquire many of these great domain names is by purchasing an existing domain name. You will not be able to find one to register fresh.

Choosing the right domain name for your internet business enterprise can be an exciting and challenging time but if you take the time to learn more about the available domain names you can buy then you just might find the bargain of a lifetime and start off your business with a bang.

The Value of Branding Your Blog

Harnessing the marketing power of your blog is an excellent strategy for growing your business. With the many benefits of blogs, including SEO and developing customer loyalty, even Fortune 500 companies are jumping on the bandwagon. However, utilizing blogs is not as simple as writing articles that optimize your company’s keywords.

Seeing your blog as an extension of your marketing and branding efforts is the key to maximizing the benefits of blogging. Remember, the purpose of your blog is to attract your target customer base – and keep them coming back for more. With that said, there are several strategies you can utilize to maximize the marketing power of your blog.

What does your blog say about your company?

A major element of your marketing efforts is brand congruency. McDonald’s, Apple, Nike, and the other highly successful global organizations have achieved their status through intelligent, congruent branding. Keeping this in mind, it is critical that your blog stays in line with your branding efforts. Readers see the blog as a personal extension of the company, and thus, it is important that it reflects the same character of your branding strategy.

For example, if you run an online party supplies store that is known for creativity, then make sure your blog reflects that branding. Include innovative party ideas, such as themes, unique DIY decorating tips, and recipes. This creates significant value with your target customer base, while keeping in line with the creative branding your company employs.

How is your blog valuable to your target customer?

Although blogs are indeed beneficial for SEO purposes, the most power you can generate from your blog stems from attracting your target customer. With this in mind, carefully evaluate how valuable your blog postings are to your client base. Put yourself in their shoes; would you bookmark your blog and come back regularly?

One strategic – and easy – way to increase the value of your blog is to create specialized content. Positioning yourself as a specialist and expert in the field not only provides value to the customer, but inherently reinforces the legitimacy of your company.

For example, if you are a recruiting firm, then your blog should discuss pressing HR issues that your clients would find valuable. You could expound upon changing laws, new legal rulings, powerful interview questions, and background check tools. Not only do you reaffirm your expertise in recruiting employees, but you present very valuable information that would prompt your client base to become regular readers.

How does your blog stand out from the crowd?

With many of your competitors utilizing blogs, how can you compel your target audience to visit your blog? The key is to create innovative content that stands far above mediocre articles. While many blogs simply write average, keyword-rich articles for SEO purposes, make sure your blog shines with innovative content. Whether you infuse humor, compelling research, breaking news, or expert knowledge, writing interesting blog articles is the most powerful way to generate attention. Keep in mind that your goal is to create articles worthy of links – ones that other blogs and social networks will want to re-publish – and your content will easily stand out from the blogging crowd.

When you create innovative, valuable content that is in line with your branding strategy, your business can fully reap the benefits of blogging. Leave your competition in the dust as you jumpstart your marketing campaign with the power of today’s blog!

Tricks To A Successful Postcard Marketing Campaign

While online marketing is THE thing to be doing to increase your web traffic results you can't forget that there is a real world out there and traditional marketing advertising methods can still have an effect on your website traffic.

We asked some marketeters for their ideas in offline promotion and this submission caught our eye. For comments and inquiries about the article visit: Postcard Printing, Postcard Marketing and Direct Mailing

So the Article:

Tired of swimming with the current when it comes to your online marketing techniques? With everyone too distracted on online ad schemes, it’s probably time for you to get back to print marketing and gain that edge in the market. One of the most effective marketing strategy widely used by marketers for years is postcard printing and mailing or most commonly referred to as direct mail.

But the main question now is, how can you be successful with postcard marketing? Here are some tips to a successful direct mail and postcard printing campaign. Following these steps can raise you a bar higher at getting fast and impressive results. Of course, results may vary depending on what business you’re in but the bottom line is, how can you maximize the potential of your campaign with these same concepts in mind?

When it comes to direct mail marketing, you should know two important elements: your message and your target market.

All About Words

Take some time to do this little exercise: Step into the shoes of your customers and try to think of questions and reasons for doubt that might come up in your head if someone was offered the same products and services that you offer. Then think about what that business could say to appease your doubts and gain your confidence. Think about what tone of voice in the message would appeal to you most? Do you think a casual tone would appeal to your readers or would they prefer a more professional one? Does this voice suit your business and what you offer? Next thing would be to “cosmetize” your message. Add some quirks to make your message interesting, add a dash of humor here and there but make sure not to go beyond the line of professionalism and simply clowning around. Be interesting, make your message sound sincere, straightforward, persuasive and professional.

The World Revolves Around The Consumer

A very important question to ask that can set the direction of your postcard mailing campaign is who are your prospect buyers? Once you’ve identified your market, then you ask, how can our products attend to their needs and will it live up to your expectations, how hard is the competition going to be for this product, is it highly in-demand? Make sure that you get the answer to the first question right otherwise, you’ll be wasting precious time, effort and resources on something that won’t really give you anything back.

Postcard marketing is not that complicated at all. Most of the time, campaigns go wrong simply because there was a lack of research or planning in some phase of the methodology. Getting a mailing list is no longer a challenge and so is getting a postcard printer. Fierce competition has raised the number of options available in the market and decision-making can sometimes be tough for the consumer. The best way to go is to ask for postcard printing samples and read testimonials or customer reviews when available.

Something simple and effective like direct mailing doesn’t have to be as complicated as most people cut it out to be. Start with something simple, a simple design, a small niche. Then work your way from the results that you derive from this sample testing.

Web Traffic 101: Get Back To Basics For More Website Traffic

It's a common problem: your website has cost you time and money, and now its just sitting there in cyberspace looking pretty and doing nothing much else. You need more website traffic! So what can you do to turn things around and not only make your site pay for itself, but get it to give your business a decent boost?

There are a lot of ways to get more website traffic, but the very first thing you need to do with an under-performing site is to check that the basics are in place. If you're building a brand new site you can do it right from the start.

First, are you using the best keywords? Keyword research is the very foundation of getting more website traffic. It will give you a whole list of phrases people are using to find sites just like yours. You'll see how many searches there are for each keyword or key phrase, and how many other sites you're competing against for that phrase. Ideally you're looking for phrases with a high number of searches and low competition.

Do a related terms search as well, to find search terms that are related to your seed word, but that don't contain it. For example, a related terms search on “concrete” may turn up “cement” and “render”. You'll probably find some jewels that you can do a vertical search on and find a whole lot more relevant key phrases.

The more keywords you uncover, the more chance you have of finding those elusive ones with low competition but high demand that you can rank highly for.

I recommend using a subscription keyword tool for the best results (you do seriously want more website traffic don't you?) but if you've never used a keyword tool before try out a free one first.

Fundamental number two is to write useful content. When you search the web you're looking for information, right? So are your potential customers. Give them that information and give them plenty of it. You'll find it much easier to get a high search engine ranking and more website traffic, and the visitors you get will be more likely to deal with you.

You'll know what to write about from your keyword research, and from your own industry knowledge. What are the questions your customers always ask you?

Fundamental number three is to optimize your page for the search engines. Each page should be focused on one keyword, and you need to put “hooks” throughout your page so that the search engines know what it is about.

The keyword should be used in the page title, the meta description, the page heading, and sprinkled through the text. Most experts say the keyword should be around 1-3% of the content. Try to use it in a text link as well.

Don't go overboard with the use of the keyword or the search engines may see it as spam and actually lower your page rank.

Incoming links, usually called back links, are another essential part of getting a high ranking and more website traffic. Search engines see quality back links as a vote for your site. The more votes you have, the higher your ranking. Not all back links are created equal though. The best link is a one way link from a related authority site, and from a page with not many other links on it. The worst is a reciprocal link from an unrelated low quality site, with the link to your site buried on a page with hundreds of others.

When your site has about twenty pages of good content, start submitting it to relevant directories for a good one way link, and join a quality link exchange program for good reciprocal links. Don't join link farms or exchange links with trashy sites.

Having a high search engine ranking is not much good if no-one clicks through to your site. By writing an appealing title and meta description you can double or triple your click through rate. They should both contain your keyword, and they should also be written as an ad for your page.

Look at other titles and descriptions on the search engine results page and see what would get you to click through. Don't copy, but use them for inspiration. Try a few variations of your own, and you should be able to come up with something that will boost your click through rate and get you more website traffic.

So if your website traffic isn't where you want it, go back to your site and check the basics. If they're not right you now know what to do.

Free Report About Links & Search Engine Optimization

When you think about search engine optimization, you probably think about keywords, including density and placement, in your content. Of course, those keywords are an important part of your efforts but they are not the only element of search engine optimization you need to be concerned about.

Another way to increase your site’s rankings in search engines is to focus on links.

Adding Outbound Links

In the early days of web sites, it was common for people to add a separate Links page which suggested other sites visitors might want to visit. Often these links were added because of some type of payment exchange. The bad news for these people is that those links were useless for search engine optimization and really didn’t generate much traffic to those other sites.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t add links to your sites. In fact, you should have plenty of links on your site but these should be naturally incorporated into your content. For example, if you sell life insurance and you want your visitors to know the cost of funeral expenses today you could add a link to that information on a reputable site.

Some site owners get angry about the idea of adding links to their pages because they don’t understand the purpose. They fear the links will take visitors off their site and they’ll never return. That’s only the case if you don’t have anything to offer those visitors. That link to useful, up-to-date information, however, proves that you do have plenty to offer visitors and that you are committed to providing reliable data. Because the information supports your statements, it also boosts your credibility.

Adding Inbound Links

Outbound links are easy to add because you can pick and choose those links. However, if you really want solid search engine optimization rankings then you need to also have a number of inbound links, preferably from quality sites.

What you don’t want is to use so-called link farms. These are services where you can pay a price and links to your site will be placed on other sites. Generally, these links are completely worthless. They are just thrown onto sites that area already full of hundreds of links to other sites. Unfortunately, most search engines are concerned with the quality of the sites which contain links to your site.

If you’re wondering how to gain these inbound links, there are a few ways. For one, you can simply provide great information that people will want to link to because it’s useful and up-to-date. However, it can take awhile for that to produce results. Another way is to engage in link exchanges with other legitimate sites, particularly sites that may appeal to a similar audience but which are not in direct competition with you. For example, if you sell books on dog training then you might exchange links with a site that sells dog toys or dog food.

Another idea is to do nice things for organizations, such as non-profits and schools, and request only a link to your site on their web site in return. That way your good deed will pay off for your search engine optimization.

Inbound and outbound links do play a role in Search Engine Optimization or SEO. For more information on SEO, go to http://www.goodinternetmoney.com/SEOElite/ to get a free eBook to learn more.

Tips on Increasing Traffic to Your Blog

Blog owners want to know how to increase traffic. Increasing traffic is actually easier than it seems—provided you know how. In this newsletter, we will go over 7 specific methods of increasing traffic. These are guaranteed methods to draw more visitors to your blog.

Tip #1: Sign up for pinging services
It seems pretty obvious, but most bloggers, even those who are more experienced, don’t sign up for pinging services. If you’re new to blogging and don’t know what pinging means, pinging basically means that when your blog is updated, a “ping” is sent out by the service to let pinging sites know that your blog has been updated. People who are visiting sites with pinging services will then see your blog flash across the side of the screen as “newly updated”. Pinging services include Yahoo’s blogs, weblogs.com, Google Blog search, and ZingFast.

Tip #2: Sign up for Technorati
If you go to technorati.com, you’ll see an option on the left side of the screen to “Claim Your Blog”. Doing so allows you to get updated link counts, add your photo or branding to Technorati, and see your Technorati link. Having your blog claimed on Technorati helps to increase traffic because the millions of people who go to that site will have a chance to see your blog on there.

Tip #3: Sign up for FeedBurner, a RSS service
What FeedBurner basically does for your blog is it helps you to promote your blog’s content, build your audience and measure your audience. In other words, it helps you increase your blog’s traffic.

Tip #4: Bookmark your blogs at places like del.icio.us
You can set up an account and profile at del.icio.us. Then, using that, you can add links to your blog along with excerpts from your blog. Anytime someone visits your profile on del.icio.us, they will see a link to your blog and excerpts. There are other social bookmarking sites that you can use in much the same way. The bottom line is, using these social bookmarking sites can help you increase traffic.

Tip #5: Post comments at other blogs
No, this doesn’t mean you should go and spam other blogs with comments that are only there to promote a site. It means that you should visit similar blogs to your own, post legitimate comments and then sign your name(along with a link to your blog). This way, people know you aren’t there just to promote your site—you’re there to post a good piece of feedback and also say where you’re from.

Tip #6: Ask owners of other blogs to post a link to yours
Find other blogs that are similar to yours. If they seem to be decently popular(that is, they have a good amount of comments for each post), you can try to contact the owner of the blog to add a link to your blog if they have a links section. To make them really want to do this, you can offer to link back to their blog on your blog. People do this reciprocal blog linking all the time and it does help to increase traffic.

Tip #7: Use keywords in your blog
Like regular web pages, having a good keyword density on a blog is a terrific way of getting search engine spiders to notice your page. (FYI: Search engine spiders are programs from search engines that browse sites and report back their findings to the search engine database, which then lists that site. The more keywords on your site, the more likely it is for a search engine spider to pay a visit)

If your average blog posting is around 200 words, try to use 2-6 keywords per blog post. 2-6 keywords in a blog posting of 200 words is a keyword density of between 1 and 3 percent, a respectable number. Remember that you don’t want to use too many keywords, as that will make your blog look bad. Also be sure that the keywords used are relevant to your blog. Before even making a blog posting, decide what the post will be about and then select a keyword or two to use in your post. Then do it. It’s a surefire way of getting more traffic to your site!

Signing up with a service like Technorati is a quick, painless way of increasing traffic to your blog.

So sign up today!

Easy Introduction on Increasing Traffic to Your Blog

Increasing traffic to your blog is fundamental to your blog's success on the Internet. As you'll soon find, it isn't all that hard to increase traffic to your blog, but it does take time.

The first and most important rule for increasing traffic to your blog is to post, post and then post some more. Posting new and unique content on a regular basis to your blog is crucial to success.

Another critical method for getting traffic to your blog in through by establishing links to your site on other people's webpages. This servers two purposes for your blog. First, a link on someone else's site can be clicked on thus bringing a visitor to your site. Secondly, links on other sites pointing to your site factor into the equations that Google, Yahoo and MSN use to determine the order in which sites are listed in searches conducted on their site. These types of links are referred to as "inbound" links.

When you try to develop inbound links it is important to make sure that the links are relevant. For example, if your blog is about cars then it doesn't do a lot of good to have an inbound link from a website about vacation spots. Your goal is to get inbound links on sites similar to your blog or, at a minimum, sites that target the same type of people (age, gender, interest, etc.) as your blog.

To begin developing inbound links, do a search for other blogs that are relevant to your blog. If your blog is about cars then search "cars" in Blogger Search or Technorati (two of the bigger blog search engines). Browse through the results that you get and make a list of those that you think are well designed and interesting. In order to get a link on those blogs you will most likely have to give something in return and usually the easiest thing to give is a link to them. So from that list add a link on your blog for each of the blogs that you liked. Then, after doing so, email the owner of each of those site and write something along the lines of:

"Hello, my name is John and I write for Crazy Cars, a blog about cars. I've recently added a link to your site on my homepage because I feel that my readers are in a very similar demographic to that of your site. If you get a chance check my site out and if you like what you see please link back.

Thank you,
John"

Remember that these blog owners don't owe you anything for you linking to them, but often if you ask nice you'll get a link back.

Another way to build inbound links to your blog is by submitting your blog to blog and web directories. These directories contain literally thousands of websites and very rarely will someone come to your site by clicking on a link in one of the directories. However, including you blog in these directories can in many case help your ranking in search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc). Don't spend too much time doing this but if you have a little free time they are worth looking into.

Finally, and maybe the biggest key to increasing blog traffic is to write interesting and excellent content. The most powerful way to get people to your blog is to write content that your readers want to read. This will not only make people want to come back but it will also make them want to tell others about your blog. Anyone can get someone to come to their blog once but getting someone to come back again and again, that is the key to increasing your blog traffic.

So post often, build links so people can find you and then make sure to keep it interesting. They'll come...for now, work hard and be patient.

The Top Ten Most Effective Tips To Drive Converting Traffic To Your Website

The Top Ten Most Effective Tips To Drive Converting Traffic To Your Website.

There is one thing I would like to clear up first before sharing those tips with you. Many webmasters and internet marketers alike often complain about been unable to drive traffic to their site.

This is understandable because without traffic, your site will not make money. What I want to make clear is this. Getting traffic to your site is not the problem; the problem is getting that traffic to convert to sales.

We can all go out and buy lots of traffic which none of us minds doing if we get a return on our investment. On the other hand, if we do not then we find ourselves in a difficult predicament. That is why in the title I wanted to discuss the difference between quality traffic and traffic that does not convert.

Pay Per Click.
This is one of the fastest ways to get traffic to your site. The down side is that is costs money. If your site does nothing to build a relationship with your visitors then I am afraid you will have a hard time making this profitable. You need to be building a list from this traffic and you need to communicate with that list by providing valuable information that they can apply to their needs immediately. Then once they start to see results, they will buy products from you. This is a fact and it has been proven time and again to work.

Article Marketing.
Article marketing is not just about writing articles with links pointed back to your site. When it comes to article marketing you need to have good titles with relevant information that addresses the reader's needs. Then you need to have a link back to a webpage that once again provides relevant information and genuinely helps your visitor to overcome their problem. Once again always be building a list as this enables you to build a relationship with your visitors and from this your traffic will convert to more sales.

Ezine Advertising.
This can prove to be very effective depending upon the ezine you advertise in. Research is critical so as to ensure that the ezine has targeted traffic relevant to your offer and additionally has a large number of readers who trust and respect the ezine that they read. Relevancy is critical here in order to convert traffic to sales.

Search Engine Optimization.
This strategy is a more a long term approach however is it effective. You may see a common pattern evolve relative to all these tips and that is relevancy. Relevancy improves conversion. We don't care about traffic we care about conversions. The good thing with Search Engine Optimization is that you web pages have to be relevant in order to get on the first page of the search results. Search engine traffic is proven to convert at a higher rate than advertised traffic. Being on the first page of Google builds credibility in your visitors mind and credibility converts to sales.

Forums
Forums are a wonderful place to research a market and find keywords to advertise with. Beyond that on the forums people discuss various challenges they have relative to any given subject. Your job is to help by providing information that will address their needs. Contribute to the forums in a helpful manner then provide a link on your signature that shows them the details on how best to achieve the result they are looking for. Once again this kind of traffic converts.

Link Sharing.
Sharing your links with other webmasters who have similar content to yours. I know I sound like a parrot but it will benefit all parties concerned if your links are placed on relevant websites with relevant information. You do not see vegetarian foods been advertised in a butchers shop.

Online Video.
This is fast becoming popular. It is said these days that video is being searched online over sixty percent of the time. All you need to do is make a quick video that can either have dramatic or humorous content then display a link to your website where they can learn more.

Web 2.0
Sounds like something out of Star Trek but basically these are sites that provide a social and interactive environment. Set up a page about your self and your interests then have a link back to your site where you go into detail relevant to your described interests. Once again aim to build a list form this traffic that way you will generate more sales.

Classified Advertising.
Once again, this can be tricky but I have a little tip for you that will make all the difference. Set up a US Free Ads account then create a classified add that has 200 hundred characters or more that targets your desired keyword. Look for keywords relevant to your offer that have low competition.

Then put the keyword in the title and sprinkle it throughout the copy. The beauty of this is that not only will you get page views from your add but you will also find your page will get picked up by Google providing you with free search engine traffic.

Press Release.
If you have just build a new site that offers a product or service, get a press release written about it then distribute the press release. Make sure it has your desired keyword in the title and once again spread throughout the copy. This will then get picked up by the search engines but not only that it will also provide relevant links back to your site from various different news outlets online.

To conclude work smart not hard.

Why Trackbacks are Useful For Blogs

If not, that’s alright, as most people don’t quite understand how trackbacks work and why they are useful for a blog. In this newsletter, we’re going to go over trackbacks—what they are, how they work, why they are important to blog traffic, and how to get more trackbacks. After you’ve read this, you’ll know practically everything there is to know about trackbacks.

What are trackbacks?
The concept of trackbacks is a bit hard to explain. So we’ll use an example to explain it in the best way possible.

OK, say you see a great blog post on another person’s blog and want to link to it on your blog. You could do this the old-fashioned way by manually putting a link on your site to that blog. However, if you do it this way, the person whose blog post you are linking to won’t know that you are linking to them unless you tell them.

This is where trackbacks come in. A trackback is a program which will notify the owner of a blog when one of their posts has been linked to at another blog.

How do they work?
A blog that has a trackback system set up will have a link at the bottom of every blog post. This link will say something like “Blog This!” Anyone who clicks the link can then put a link to that blog post on their site. The person who posted the original blog will then be notified via email that their blog posting has been linked to. Additionally, the link that was clicked(“Blog This!”) will change to “Trackbacks”. From that point forward, the “Trackbacks” link will keep track of how many people have chosen to blog about that particular post. So after the first trackback, it will say “Trackbacks: 1”. The number of trackbacks recorded will be updated as they occur.

Why are trackbacks important to blog traffic?
The easy answer is that trackbacks are important because they increase awareness of your blog. Trackbacks also make a blog seem more credible. After all, people have to think your posts are good enough to be trackbacked.

Anytime a person makes a trackback on your blog, they make a post on their own blog about your blog. This, in turn, lets their readers know about your blog. Chances are, their readers will want to visit your blog to see what the big deal is. If they see something on your blog that they like, they’ll keep coming back for more, which means you’ll have a whole new fanbase of readers. That means more traffic for your blog.

Can you imagine what would happen if 5 different bloggers trackbacked a post on your blog? Depending on how popular their blog is, that’s potentially as much as hundreds of new readers for your blog! Pretty incredible, right?

Also, every trackback made, assuming it is a legitimate one (and some trackbacks are spam, especially if they are there only to link to another site) adds credibility to your blog. Blogs with high amounts of trackbacks look credible because lots of people like the posts enough to trackback them.

How can I increase the number of trackbacks I get?
The easiest and best way to increase trackbacks is to frequently post. If you post frequently (2-3 times a week), people will have quite a few posts that they can trackback. However, it is important to make sure that your posts are of a good quality. Quality blog posts are those that people can relate to and are easy to read. If you post a long boring rant, people probably won’t want to trackback that. But if you post a decent sized rant that is entertaining (and that people are likely to agree with), you’ll get trackbacked.

The number of trackbacks you get is totally dependent on the number of visitors your blog receives and how frequently you are able to make quality posts. If you’ve got a good amount of visitors and write good blog posts, you’ll get trackbacks.

Trackbacks are a wonderful thing for every blog. You are able to know when your blog posting has been posted about at another blog, plus you potentially gain more visitors. It’s a win-win situation for you!

The Value of your Link Partners

Good link partners are vital to the growth of your website. Without good link partners you won’t be ranked highly in the search engines, and you won’t receive the traffic you need to gain new customers and make new sales. Building high-quality links to your website helps it to succeed.

Websites that maintain good incoming links will get many targeted visitors from their link partners. These link partners are also a good source of information and can offer value for the visitors that come to your website more often. The idea behind link partners is to find web sites with complementary content so that you enhance your web site. For example, if you sell computers, it wouldn't be a bad idea to link to a site that sells printers.

Linking to your competitors is much more dangerous. The fact of the matter is that when you link to your competitors you are handing them your business. They may be handing some of theirs back to you, but the trade off simply isn't worth it. If you are in a situation where it is your product or theirs, do not link to them. Aside from the obvious issue of losing business to their site, you may even lose the returning link if you don't keep an eye on it.

When dealing with link partners, there’s virtually no point unless you get reciprocal links. These links make your website look good, as well as getting you targeted traffic from users clicking on the links. When you are optimizing your site for key words, however, it is important to link to sites that provide more information regarding the content that you have provided. In cases like this, the link is already helping you. If you get a returning link in addition it's like killing two birds with one stone.

With good-quality incoming links, you will benefit greatly from the increased traffic to your site. Most major search engines’ rankings are at least partly based on the number of quality links pointing to your website. Google, HotBot, AltaVista, MSN, Inktomi and more all use link popularity in their formula for calculating rankings.

The value of your link partner's sites will be very important, as many of the search engines use this in determining how relevant your site is to the terms that are being searched on. A site with a page rank below three generally isn’t worth exchanging links with. Then again, if the site is on its way up, it might be a good idea to get in on the ground floor. If you are curious as to whether a site is going to be accumulating a higher page rank in a short period of time try going to http://www.iwebtool.com/rank and punching the site’s URL into the “backlink” tool or the “page rank predictor.” These will show you how many links the site has going to them and will let you know what the page rank could be within the next three months.

You must always keep an eye on the value, and use value-for-value exchanges only. Make sure that your link doesn’t get removed from any sites you link to, and remove your own link to them if it does. Many people will agree to link with you and then remove your link after a week or two. If you leave your site linked to them, then they’re the only one benefiting.

Good link partners are hard to find, and it will take some time for them to respond. You may have to contact them more than once, and probably won’t take you seriously if you just ask them to trade you links. It is important to provide them with information relating to your company and let them know why your link will be worth while to them. If you are serious about SEO, you will be able to let them know that you expect your page rank to explode within the next few months and you may be able to accumulate links this way.

It’s important for to make sure that you links are checked on a regular basis. Of course you don’t have much control over the incoming links, but you can still do whatever you want with the outgoing ones. You should immediately remove any links that don’t work, as they can and will bring your search engine rankings down.

By understanding how link partnering works and maintaining good quality links on your website, you can increase your targeted traffic and improve your sales. After all, isn’t that the whole point of having an online business? Just remember that your website, like any other business, takes time and effort to make it succeed, and any little way you can speed up the process is good – as long as it’s not against the rules, of course.

Domain Names with No Traffic

The question about what to do with domain names in our company portfolio that were not seeing any traffic started with a simple experiment with two example domain names. Both had seen almost no traffic, direct navigation or otherwise, they were not indexed in any search engine and there was no development or promotional plans for either one.

The simple act of creating a single index page and posting about the work on one or more employee blog’s during lunch immediately caused them to get indexed and created around 10 inbound links to each domain name without any further effort.

But still no traffic.

So I’m going to take it upon myself to expand the scope of the traffic experiment and add 10 other non performing domain names from the company portfolio into the mix. 7 of which have seen less than 5 page views in the last four months, and all of which have seen less than 10 page views in the same time frame.

I have to admit that 7 are already indexed from being included in our companies website on the portfolio page despite being parked.

I’ll start by building a single index page for each and submitting them to the search engines to be spidered. The earlier this process begins the better and the earlier a domain name is included in .
I’ll prepare a development and promotional plan for each domain name as well as a set goal on a limited timeline.

Then it's just a matter of Develop and Promote.

Great Free Traffic Resources

Heres a great link I came across today for some ideas on building web traffic cheap: http://www.squidoo.com/free-traffic-hits

(Hint: Notice he is using both Squidoo and Hub pages to spread his content and add affiliate links?)

His Ideas Real Quick:

Add and Instant Buzz toolbar. I'm not sure about the InstantBuzz.com idea. I have enough toolbars on my browser as it is, any more and it'll be hard to see the web. Anyone else tried this?

I was sort of interested in their hyperspace ads for your website, not so much the toolbar, but they look like pop up ads to me and there was no option to do one or the other, it was a single download only.

YouTube Marketing. Duh, third largest website online as far as traffic is concerned. The problem is making the videos. And I'm not so sure about the idea of uploading the same video three times to increase your views, even if it is with different titles and descriptions.

Squidoo + Hub + Blog = Mega Traffic. Ok, sorta. Maybe I'm not working hard enough. It is a good combination but I haven't yet seen the traffic that I was hoping for.

Do we ever?

Free Link Building Tool

I have a bunch of techniques for building backlinks that have been hard won. I had to struggle for a long time to find what works and what doesn't.

And then I would have to figure out how to speed up the process of doing what did actually work.

One of the things that worked for me was commenting relevant thoughts on other highly ranked blogs.

The problem, sometimes those blogs had no follow tags in their commenting system, which is understandable with the amount of comment spam that can spread around, besides which I'm not too sure that the no follow tags are always all that bad.

Regardless, the free tool offered by Comment Kahuna simplifies a lot of the process and makes building links and traffic that much simpler.

Their Page describes the software like this:
  • Generates a TON Of Free Highly-Targeted Traffic!
  • Boosts Your Search Engine Rankings
  • Gets Unlimited Free Backlinks From High Authority Niche Blogs

The important thing though is to sign up with a valid email address. Believe it or not they don't spam you and the email is required to get the updates as past version may go unworkable with search engine upgrades.

Anyway, good luck, and if you aren't using it you are missing out on a lot of free exposure online.
